Our variety of tours has been extended with no less than 9 new destinations to choose from but still with the emphasis on interesting rail routes, enjoyable stays and a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, that’s why we see so many of our participants returning time and time again.

Our European departures feature old favourites like the spectacular winter operation in the scenic Harz Mountains or the dramatic backdrops of Switzerland to a new tour to the Brittany area of France – TGV’s, branch lines lovely historic villages and a steam train.Another new tour reminds us of episodes during the Second World War with visits to Berlin, Auschwitz, Prague and Dresden, while travelling further through Europe a new tour to Greece and optional extension to Istanbul. Still in Europe, rail action in the busy Koln and Rhur areas of Germany is covered in spring-time or sample an autumn rail-cruise through the French, Swiss and Austria Alps.

Further afield enjoy a relaxing ride on the classic “Canadian” train right across the snows of Canada to Vancouver or, by way of contrast, travel by rail on the “Jungle Line” in Malaysia then up the west cost to visit Penang and Bangkok and of course the Kwai River Bridge.“Down under” is visited again this year – but this time to New Zealand featuring steam haulage on both north and south islands, while a one-off tour travels across Russian on the Trans-Siberian for the total solar eclipse.

The USA has always featured in the Travel Bureau Railtours programme; indeed we have been in the forefront of tours to North America for many years and are acknowledged as THE operator to this area.Tours during 2008 offer the opportunity to ride, photograph and watch a variety of freight, passenger and rapid transit trains in New York, another tour takes you to see
